Well, finally I get blogging after a long thought I finally feel I have a theme to blog about.
I am a software programmer (more like an architect who designs and develops software for financial firms) with a keen interest in the financial markets.
On the side, I trade and invest in the stock market.
So you can say, I make money by programming financial software and lose it in the stock market
My investing style is based on selling options and I try to collect option premium by selling covered calls and synthetic puts. So the idea is to be the insurance agency and sell insurance and collect premium.
At every options expiration day (third friday of the month) I either get called out on my positions for a profit or options expire worthless so I keep the premium and sell new options for the next month.
I rely a lot on technical analysis and always start analysing price action first coupled with sentiment at that price. Next I do a little of fundamental analysis to make sure the company is not going bankrupt.
I do my risk reward analysis i.e. capital involved vs max profit I think I can make in that trade. If this looks good, I pull the trigger set stops for 6-8% downside/ and let it run to my potential target price.
I will be writing a lot about my investing style later so hang in there if all this seems greek and latin to you.
This blog captures my hits and misses and my experiences as I trade and invest in the stock market.
